Charles Clifford Bowers, Esq., affectionately known to all as Charlie, was a man who wore many hats - a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather, a loyal brother, a brilliant lawyer, an inspiring teacher, and a master of one-liners. Born on June 18, 1957, in Cambridge, MA, Charlie passed away on June 27, 2023, in Boston, MA, after a courageous battle with several medical conditions.

Charlie's life was marked by love for his family. He was the beloved husband of Lorella Bowers, father of Angela and Emma, father-in-law of Angela’s husband Brian, and grandfather of their two children, Rome and Aurora. He also leaves behind his dear brother Dana, sister-in-law Beverly, and many other cherished family members. Charlie was pre-deceased by his parents, Alberta and Maurice Bowers, and his brothers Geoffrey and Maurice "Skip" Bowers.

He studied Finance and Insurance at Northeastern University and earned his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School. He spent several years in the business and finance sector, working for companies like State Street Bank, PwC, and Scudder Kemper. He later pursued a new career in teaching accounting and economics at Malden High School; he found immense joy in mentoring his students over the past 22 years.

Charlie’s collection of books, movies and music are a testament to his artistic passions and intellectual curiosity. He shared a mutual love for history with his son-in-law Brian; you could often find them discussing the Civil War, World War II and Ancient Rome. He collected countless DVDs of his favorite films such as Saving Private Ryan, the Godfather series and The Deer Hunter. He often would act out scenes from his favorite comedy, My Cousin Vinny, with his daughter Angela. Charlie had a diverse taste in music; however, he believed nothing could come close to rock ’n' roll greats like the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Led Zeppelin. He loved playing his favorite songs for family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, specifically cribbage, with his daughter Emma as well as shooting pool with friends, especially his longtime best friend Paul Sullivan.

Charlie was a proud Bostonian and loyal Boston sports fan. He enjoyed and celebrated all of the Boston sports victories over the years, and was quick to give his two cents to the heartbreaking losses. In his younger years he enjoyed going out in Harvard Square and would also not hesitate to drive his FIAT down to New York City to visit his beloved brother Geoffrey in the East Village. Later in life he found joy in surprising his grandson Rome at his weekend soccer classes and in dancing along with his granddaughter Aurora.

Charlie loved his trips to Italy, where he met his wife, Lorella. He cherished his summers there, the laughter-filled family dinners, the trips to Rome and Capri, and the pizza and gelato from his favorite spots. He was a master storyteller, a loyal friend, and a generous host, always ready to share a cigar or offer a place to stay to anyone in need.

Charlie’s sense of humor was infectious. He had a way of making people laugh, even in the toughest times. His favorite quote was "see you on the beach," and now, as we say goodbye, we can imagine him there, by the Adriatic Sea, sipping a cappuccino and enjoying a cornetto. He has left us with a lifetime of laughter, love, and lessons. His light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him, and his stories will continue to bring smiles to our faces. Today, we celebrate a life well-lived — one filled with joy and adventure.

Charlie, we'll see you on the beach.
