Charlene A. Casey

Charlene Audrey Casey, known lovingly as Char, was a woman whose life was marked by selfless devotion, creative spirit, and deep love for the people and causes that mattered most to her. Born on January 19, 1943, in Norwalk, Connecticut, and passing away on July 10, 2026, in Plano, Texas, after a stroke, she lived a life that quietly and powerfully reminded others what it means to serve, to love, and to keep giving of oneself with grace.

Char grew up with a steady heart and a determined spirit, and she carried those qualities with her throughout her life. She graduated with the Beverly High School class of 1961 in Beverly, Massachusetts, and went on to build a life defined not only by work, but by purpose. In her career as a Surgical Instrument Technician at Microsemi of Watertown, she brought care, precision, and reliability to her work. She understood that excellence is not only found in big moments, but in the faithful attention given to everyday responsibilities. That same sense of commitment shaped the way she lived beyond her profession.

Faith was an important part of Char’s life, and she lived as a Christian with humility and compassion. Her beliefs were not simply words she carried, but values she practiced through kindness, service, and generosity. She had a way of making others feel seen and valued, and she led by example in the quiet, meaningful ways that often leave the deepest impact. She was the kind of person who showed up, helped out, and gave her best without needing recognition.

Char’s family was central to her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Bruce” Casey, and by her sisters Gail Anne Harris and Beverley Elaine August, as well as her brothers Lester Lynford Harris Jr., Robert Franklin Harris, and Dale Richard Harris. She is survived by her sisters Hazel Augusta Wilson, Donnalynn Wucher, and Jennifer Ann Belanger, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude. The bond she shared with her family was strong, enduring, and full of warmth, and those who knew her best will remember how deeply she cared.

Char also had a creative soul, and she expressed that creativity through crocheting and knitting, talents she shared generously with others. She volunteered at the local senior center, where she taught crocheting and knitting to others while continuing to create beautiful pieces herself. Her hands were always busy making something useful, comforting, or meaningful. Her most recent project, knitting more comfortable prosthetics for the American Breast Cancer Society, reflected the extraordinary heart behind her craft. She did not merely make things. She made life better for others. She turned skill into service and creativity into compassion.

Her love extended to animals as well, especially the many dogs she adored over the years. Her most recent pups, Lily and Prada, were truly her world, and they brought her joy, companionship, and comfort. She loved them deeply, and those who knew her understood that her affection for her dogs was yet another reflection of her tender and loving nature. She gave her heart freely, and that heart had room for family, friends, neighbors, and every loyal companion who crossed her path.

Char was also very involved with her local TOPS chapter, where she found fellowship, encouragement, and shared purpose. She believed in progress, in lifting others up, and in being part of something that helped people move forward together. That spirit of encouragement was one of her greatest gifts. She did not simply participate in life. She inspired it. She reminded others that strength is built one day at a time, one choice at a time, and one act of kindness at a time.

Those who knew Char will remember her as selfless, creative, and loving, but her legacy reaches even further than those beautiful words. She was a woman who lived with intention. She gave her time. She shared her talents. She loved her family. She served her community. She honored her faith. She cared for animals. She helped others with her hands and her heart. Her life was a testimony to the power of steady goodness and the lasting value of a life lived for others.

Char’s journey on this earth has ended, but the impact of her life continues. The love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the example she set will remain with all who were fortunate enough to know her. She showed that a meaningful life is not measured by fame or fortune, but by compassion, service, and the courage to keep giving. Her story is one of strength wrapped in gentleness, and of purpose carried out with humility.
