Carolyn K. (Kane) Mack

Carolyn Kane Mack, 84, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, with her loving son by her side. Born on April 27, 1942, in Wyandotte MI, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Charles and Isobel Kane.  She is survived by her son Jonathan Mack and his partner Nicole Mann; her granddaughter Abigail Mack; and her sister Martha Goddard and her husband Dave.  She is predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Julie Ann Mack, and her brother Clifford Kane.

Raised in Wyandotte in her home at, as she so often would say, “3-5-4 Chestnut”, Carolyn attended her local parish’s St. Patrick’s high school and went on to graduate in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree from Marygrove College in Detroit.  After spending some years in Oklahoma - where many life long friendships were formed - she made her way to New England and ultimately settled in West Peabody, where her neighborhood became her home and her neighbors became her family.  “Home is where the heart is” - and her heart for more than 40 years was on Pequot Road.

Professionally, Carolyn was an educator - devoting more than 3 decades to the Billerica Public Schools, primarily as a 7th grade math teacher.  She cared deeply for her students and also relished the strong bonds and friendships she formed with her fellow educators at the Marshall Middle School.  She also taught CCD for many years through her local Church - St. Adelaide’s.

Carolyn herself was a life-long student, nurturing her mind with books, magazines, and news programs as well as through her civic engagement with groups such as the American Association of University Women.

Above all, her greatest devotion and greatest enjoyment came from being a mother to Jonathan and a grandmother to Abigail. To them, she imparted her values of kindness, responsibility, and selflessness.  With them, she shared her joys of home cooking, piano playing and waterfront vacations - especially to Lake Winnipesaukee and Lauderdale-by-the Sea. For them, she gave her heart, wisdom and always…her time.

She will forever be treasured and remembered and loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Wednesday August 19th, from 6-8 pm, Her Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday August 20th at 11 AM at St. Adelaides Church, 712 Lowell St. Peabody, MA. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA.
