Caroline Bender Tricca, 69, died Monday April 18th at home after a long illness. Caroline was the beloved wife of Joseph Tricca with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agness Drake Bender. Caroline’s fondest memories recalled family summer vacations at her father’s childhood home in Island Heights N.J. She, Joe and their extended family continued the summer vacation tradition in Seaside N.J., Stinson Lake, N.H. and Keoka Lake Maine. A highlight reel for Caroline would include Miss Merrill’s Dance Class, Maplewood Baptist Church’s Youth Group and Choir, Canton High School Girls Basketball and Tennis Teams, Boston University Outing Club, Melrose Tennis Association, and Captain of The Sea Sparrow (her boat!)
Caroline was a graduate of Boston University and Salem State College. After graduation she worked for the city of Melrose and the State of Massachusetts. She and Joe, with the help of many relatives and friends built their home in Middleton, Ma. In 1985 and she was able to remain at home with the aid of Care Dimensions until the end. Caroline is survived by her husband Joseph of Middleton, Stepmother Betty Bender of Brooksby Village, sister Joan Wetzel and husband Mark of Reading, Ma.; brother Dr. Frank Bender and wife Marsha of Escondido, CA. Also survived by her mother-in-law Rose Tricca of Melrose, MA, Steven & Ann Tricca of Newburyport, Ma., Marjorie Tricca of Kittery, Maine, Kathy and the late Chuck Young of Wakefield, Ma., Rosanne and Ed Spinney of N. Reading, Ma., Paula and Joe Neulist of Tewksbury, Ma., and Nancy York and John Thornhill of Portsmouth, N.H. Additionally, Caroline is survived by 15 nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be in the future due to covid in the family.
