Carol M. McCarthy (Donoghue), 89, of Middleton, passed away peacefully on July 21. She was born in Holyoke, MA, the daughter of George P. and Anne (Fitzgerald) Donoghue (both deceased).
Carol was known for her love of active social life and friends, summers on Cape Cod and seasonal holiday festivities. Her cats always held a special place in her heart. A devoted teacher, from a family of teachers, she took great pride in her students’ development and success. She was a graduate of the College of Notre Dame in Maryland and received an M Ed from UMass Boston.
Beloved mother of Greg A. McCarthy of Middleton and Steven M. McCarthy and his wife Christine Rogers of Andover and Grandmother of Kyle R and Quinn R McCarthy both of Boston, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence J. McCarthy. Carol is survived by her sister Mariellen Quillard of West Springfield and her niece Maria Quillard of San Jose.
Her memory will inspire us to live with purpose and joy, valuing family and friends with an enduring positive outlook.
A Mass of Christian Burial will Take place on Monday July 28th at 11:00 am at St. Agnes Parish, 22 Boston St. Middleton. Interment will be on Tuesday July 29 at 12:30pm at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s name to MSPCA- Angell, Northeast Animal Shelter are appreciated.
