Barbara J. Murphy age 85 passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2022. She was born in November of 1936 to Frank and Rose DeMille in Everett Mass. A devoted wife and mother Barbara is survived by her husband Thomas J. Murphy Sr and her son Thomas J Murphy Jr. She developed a lifelong love of playing the piano which began in her grade school years spent in Malden Mass. Having attended Boston University Barbara began her career at Avco Aerospace Research Corporation as an executive assistant to the project management team that developed the atmospheric re-entry process for the space program. Later in her career, she progressed on to Digital Equipment Corporation and after the birth of her son was a founding co-partner of Mineral Lab Inc a company dedicated to analyzing mineral deficiency's in the human body for health and wellness nutritional counseling. In semi-retirement, Barbara developed a passion for decoration and interior design ultimately taking a part-time job in Macy's housewares department as a design consultant. Her own home still remains as a testimony to a talent that she loved to share. In full retirement, she made several sojourn trips to Europe, Hawaii and Alaska and ultimately settled happily into the snowbird lifestyle chasing the sun between Florida and Massachusetts. In addition to her role as wife and mother Barbara was a devoted friend, loving Aunt and Sister-in-law. She will be remembered fondly and very much missed by her entire family and circle of friends.
