Barbara A (Kohr) Anderson

Barbara A. (Kohr) Anderson, 78, of Lynnfield passed away peacefully on Friday April 2, 2021 with her loving husband and daughter by her side. Born January 9, 1943 in Gloucester, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Esther (Collinson) Kohr.

Barbara was raised in Magnolia and attended Gloucester High School. She was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she majored in Education. Barbara went on to teach at Chapel Hill in Waltham for 10 years, then at Lynnfield Public schools, where she taught Latin, French and English as a second language. She also tutored from her home for many years.

In her younger years, Barbara enjoyed competitive figure roller-skating throughout high school. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Theta Epsilon Sorority at UNH. Her interests in college were theatre, dance and music ensemble.  She loved living near the ocean and her favorite past time by far was spending summers in Truro, Cape Cod with her family.  She enjoyed playing tennis, the piano, listening to music, but most of all, she loved chatting and spending time with friends and family.

On June 18th, 1976, Barbara was united in marriage with Carl Richard Anderson. They shared 45 special years together sharing mutual devotion to one another and their family.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Carl Richard Anderson, her loving daughter Kirsten and her husband, Michael Lamattina, as well as her cherished grandchildren Noelle, Nicholas and Alex who offered tremendous support and comfort. She also leaves many wonderful friends and close relatives who loved her dearly.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Hospice Staff at All Care for their unending care and compassion for Barbara. They truly became part of the Anderson family.
