Antonio Vaz Obituary

Antonio Marinho Vaz, known lovingly to family and friends as Tony, passed away on September 19, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and a life lived with purpose. Born on February 20, 1954, in Felgueiras, Portugal, to Francisco Vaz and Emilia Pereira Marinho Vaz, he carried the strength, pride, and spirit of his homeland throughout his life.

Tony was a man who understood the power of showing up every single day and giving his best. He built a respected career as a foreman with Circle Floors Inc. after retiring from the Massachusetts State Carpenter’s Union, Local 2168, where his work ethic and leadership earned the admiration of many. He was not only someone who could get the job done, but someone who inspired confidence in others by the way he carried himself. He believed in doing things the right way, in taking pride in honest work, and in leaving every place better than he found it.

Above all else, Tony was a devoted husband, father, father in law, Vovo, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Louro Vaz, and by his children, Michael and daughter-in-law Amanda, Kevin and daughter-in-law Laura, Cliff and daughter-in-law Lori, and Jason. He was also a loving Vovo to Isabella, Amelia, Angelina, Owen, and Luke, and he treasured every moment spent with them. His family was the center of his world, and he made it his mission to bring joy, laughter, and stability to those he loved. He found happiness when he was playing with his grandchildren, enjoying time with his family, laughing and joking around, and making his loved ones smile.

Tony’s family also includes his siblings Joaquim, Conceicao, Fernando, Hermindo, Lourdes, Jose, and Paulo, along with his sister Alice, who has passed away. He was also preceded in death by his son Gilberto, whose memory remained forever in his heart.

Tony had a gift for fixing anything and everything around the house, and he approached each task with the same steady spirit he brought to all things. He loved gardening and the sunshine, and he appreciated the beauty of working with his hands and caring for the world around him.

He will be remembered as a man who brought energy into every room, warmth into every gathering, and encouragement into every challenge. Though he is no longer with us, his influence remains strong in the hearts of all who knew him. His story is one of resilience, love, and purpose, and that story will continue to inspire those who carry his memory forward. May he rest in peace
