With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Anne V. Pietropaolo, née McDonnell, of Peabody, MA, passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 84. Anne lived a rich life filled with so many adventures and cherished experiences. She loved sharing stories and life lessons from her various ventures, pursuits, travels and escapades. Each story was a loving tribute to the cast of characters, family and friends, that filled her life and made it wonderful. Anne moved through the various stages of her life with warmth, laughter and a sense of humor. She was deeply devoted to her late husband (Pete), proud of her children and her grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life.
Anne was born in New York in 1942, to the late Michael and Mary (Reilly) McDonnell (County Mayo, Ireland). She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Eglise St. Jean Baptiste High School in New York City. It was later at Eastern Airlines, where she worked in customer service and as a trainer, that she met her beloved late husband Pete. They married in 1972, moved to Massachusetts and shared 54 wonderful years together. Over that time, Anne and Pete raised their children, and cherished watching their grandchildren grow, passing their love, stories and humor on to each of them. Later in life, after working as an EKG technician and then becoming a small business owner, Anne decided to go back to school and pursue her nursing degree, something she always longed to do. At the age of 58, she fulfilled her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, and went on to provide extraordinary care to countless residents and patients at a number of long-term skilled nursing facilities.
Anne loved to travel and had many adventures across Europe, Ireland, England, Russia, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico; she loved taking car rides, especially to Nubble Lighthouse in Maine and also drove cross country all over the US. In addition, her hobbies included crafts, painting and sewing. She was an active volunteer at school and taught CCD for years.
Anne is now reunited with her husband Pete in eternal peace. She was also predeceased by her parents and adored siblings, Mary (McDonnell) Tighe (and husband Thomas) and Patrick McDonnell (and wife Irene). She is survived by son Keith Pietropaolo (and wife Megan), daughter Tara Noble, her grandchildren Cory, Ryan, Hannah, and Evan, brother Michael McDonnell (and wife Linda), sister-in-law Patricia Pietropaolo and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am, on June 5, 2026 at St Richard Parish, 90 Forest Street Danvers, MA. Interment will take place following the mass at Puritan Lawns, 185 Lake St, Peabody, MA.
There will be a visitation prior to the mass at the Church from 9:30am-10:30am.
