Angelo “Angie” George was born in Danvers, MA on October 4th, 1940. He was the son of Louis and Georgia (Kotredes) George, who emigrated from Amfikleia, Greece. He was proud to say that he was raised “down the Port”. Angie was educated in Danvers schools, known as the “Class Clown”, a term that followed him throughout his life as he was always the jokester. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as an MP. He then began a career in leather sales, serving the New England shoe industry which had him living in South Paris, ME and Nashua, NH, before returning to Danvers in 1989 where he met his loving wife, Eileen, whom he loved from the moment they met. Angie was a member of the Polish Club, Bolster’s Mills, Crooked River Lodge of the Masons, and a lifetime member of the Two Ten Charitable Foundation, serving the leather and shoe industry.
Angie spent the last 35 years of his “retirement” traveling the World with his family and friends. He and his loving wife enjoyed their travels to Europe in the Fall and their late-winter trips to the Caribbean. They always had plans in the fire for their next adventure. Although he loved to travel, his most special times were spent with his family, whom he would talk fondly about to anyone that would listen.
In addition to his wife, Angie is survived by his sister, Marlene Glynos and her husband John “Yanni” of Danvers, MA, his son Christopher and his wife Joanne of Aviano, Italy (formerly of Newton, NH), his daughter Jennifer George Robertson and her husband John “Rob” Robertson and their daughters Zoe and Ashley of Greenland, NH, Amy Maurer, her husband Peter, their children Emma and Olivia of Danvers, MA and Sydney, Sam, and Ellie of Medway, MA, and Abbie O’Grady, her husband Brett Desrosier, and their children, Morgan, Brady, and Connor of Danvers, MA.
