Andrea Morneau Obituary

After having fought a courageous battle against ovarian cancer for the past five years, Andrea Peacefully passed away on her 77th birthday, January 26, 2023.  Her friends would all agree that Andy was the most giving person.  Her attention was always about others.  She was extremely devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Andrea was the daughter of Roger Halle and Virginia Batchelder of Danvers, MA. She graduated from Danvers, MA schools and from Burdett college in Lynn MA as an executive secretary. She also earned a Basic Certificate from the American Institute of Banking.  Out of college she was the Secretary for the Installment Loan Department of the Danvers National Bank.  Once we she was blessed to have children, she served as the secretary for the Danvers, MA Planning and Conservation boards. Her final working position was as Office Manager for Creative Catering in Beverly, MA.

Andrea earned the “Molly Pitcher” award from the Field Artillery Association at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for the support she provided to the 1/102 Artillery in Salem MA.  She was proud of the fact that she descended directly from John Endicott and was a member of the Winthrop Society because of her 9th great grandfather, Joseph Batchelder, arriving in Salem on the Hercules in 1637.  She was also related to Colonel Amos Batchelder the first postmaster in Middleton, MA.

Andrea’s passion was love of family.  There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her friends would admit that you could not have a better friend than Andy. She loved giving and sharing with others.  She was particularly fond of her book club friends / Danvers High School classmates and her exercise class friends both in MA, and at the Bay Lake Resort in Florida where she ran the classes. She loved to be creative. Over the years she got involved in ceramics, toll painting, macrame, rug braiding and finally, her greatest love quilting.  She also loved to golf.

Andy loved to travel.  She and Ron traveled extensively over the last 55 years. They traveled the U.S in their motor home.  They had fun weekends with  Corvette friends. They also loved cruises and tour groups. In total they traveled to 86 foreign countries.

Andrea is the wife of Ron Morneau of Salem, their children are Danielle Szabo of Cedar Park, TX and Daren Morneau of Madison, NH.  Their grandchildren are Zachary and Ryan Szabo of Cedar Park, TX and Kylan and Halle Morneau of Madison, NH. She is also survived by her brothers Larry and Phil Halle.
