Albert Rogers Obituary

Albert K. Rogers, 83, of Lyman, Maine, and formerly of Peabody, Massachusetts, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 19, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 8, 1941, a son of Chester P. and Alice (Hersey) Rogers.  Albert grew up in Saugus graduating from Saugus High School, class of 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and faithfully served our country until he was honorably discharged in 1963. While in the Navy Albert grew very fond of Harriet Angell, and they frequently wrote letters to each other.  They were married on July 23, 1966, and the young couple began their lives together in Saugus.  After a short time they relocated to Peabody where they raised their three children, Kenneth, Christopher and Karen.

Albert worked for General Electric as a machinist for 25 years.  After his retirement, Albert and Harriet began traveling and spent many winters in warmer climates.  They first owned a home in Las Vegas, then after a few years they chose Clearwater, Florida as their winter getaway.

In 1997 they moved from Peabody and renovated their family camp on Wadleigh Pond in Lyman, Maine to make it into their permanent residence.  Many wonderful memories were made here from campfires and cookouts, to afternoons spent on his pontoon boat and listening to music on his jukebox.

Al's hobbies throughout his life included antique and classic car shows, all types of music, spending time on his boat "cruising the pond" while playing his favorite music for all to hear, and his immense love for animals. During winters in Florida, Al would "go cruising" on his scooter through his neighborhood everyday to visit friends, neighbors and anybody who was outside that he could talk to. He was quite the social butterfly! Al was also a true “Jack-Of-All-Trades”, often earning the nickname "Mickey Mouse" for his ability to fix just about anything.

"In his younger years, he enjoyed playing pool with friends and family. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes with the neighbors up at camp during the Summers. As an avid cribbage player he looked forward to playing competetively online a few nights every week."

Most of all, he cherished all the times spent together with his family and looked forward to visits from everybody. He was a dedicated and proud father and grandfather, who enjoyed attending events and gatherings with his family.

He will be sadly missed by many.

Albert was predeceased by his brother, Chester J. Rogers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Harriet Rogers; by his three children: Kenneth Rogers and wife Aimee, Christopher Rogers and wife Kaylene, and Karen Johnson; by his nine grandchildren: Faith, Kirstie, Allan, Justin, Reece, Brady, Alexys, Finn and Liam; and by his sister Jane Chaplain and husband Dave.

Visiting hours for Al will take place from 1-4pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main Street, Middleton, Massachusetts.
