Albert Joyce Obituary

Albert Francis Joyce, age 91, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Born on May 24, 1933, to Joseph and Margaret Joyce (O'Brien), Al grew up in Everett, MA. He graduated from Everett High School and briefly attended Mercer University before deciding to join the Air Force, where he served for six years.

In 1961, Al married the love of his life, the late Claudette Joyce (Bergeron). They moved to Danvers in 1963 after living in Waltham and adopted their two children, Diane in 1965 and Robert in 1968. Al worked as a dedicated salesman at Sears in Saugus for 32 years and later at Doyon's for about 10 years before retiring.

Al is survived by his children, Diane Guarino of Danvers, and Robert Joyce and his wife Jill Joyce of Groveland, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Morgan Andrews, Andrew Joyce, Jacob Joyce, and Brian Sullivan and his wife Chelsea Sullivan of Phoenix, Arizona. Al was also blessed with great-grandchildren Garrix, Maevry, and Zevlin. He is also survived by his older brother, Joseph Joyce (age 101) of Arvada, Colorado, his beloved dogs Nacho and Fenway, and many nieces and nephews whom he adored. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Gould (Joyce).

Known for his warm and welcoming nature, Al made everyone he met feel like family. He was famous for saying he was "in the pink" whenever asked how he was doing. Al had a keen interest in the stock market and was exceptionally knowledgeable about finances. A devout man, he faithfully attended Sunday Mass and continued to watch it on TV when he could no longer attend in person. Al cherished spending time with his grandchildren and was a constant presence at their games and events.

It is impossible to encapsulate everything that Al accomplished and all the lives he positively affected. He was literally the kindest man on Earth. Al's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
